Soy Contamination Alert: Hot Pot Sauce Recall Due to Undeclared Allergens

A company based in San Gabriel, California, Liaoning Cheng Da USA Inc., has issued a recall for Hot Pot Sauce due to potential undeclared allergens, including peanut, soy, sesame, and wheat. The presence of these allergens poses a serious risk to individuals with allergies or high sensitivity to them, as consumption could result in severe or life-threatening allergic reactions. The recall, initiated on March 11, 2025, affects the Hot Pot Sauce distributed in California through various retail outlets such as 99 Ranch Market, Hawaii Supermarket, and Great Wall Supermarket.

The Hot Pot Sauce, packaged in a 160-gram plastic container under the brand name “Wangzhihe,” is available in both regular and spicy flavors. Consumers are advised to check for specific lot numbers printed on the back of the packages, including 2023/12/20, 2024/1/31, 2024/4/15, and 2024/10/18, as well as the corresponding UPC numbers: 6907592001375 and 6907592001382 displayed on the front of the packaging. Fortunately, there have been no reported illnesses associated with this product to date.

The recall was prompted by the manufacturer’s discovery that the Hot Pot Sauce contained peanut, soy, sesame, and wheat, which were not disclosed on the packaging labels. Liaoning Cheng Da USA Inc. is working in cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to address this issue and ensure consumer safety. Consumers who have purchased the affected Hot Pot Sauce are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. For inquiries or assistance, individuals can contact the company at 626-285-2887 during regular business hours from Monday to Friday in the Pacific time zone.

Food recalls such as this highlight the importance of accurate allergen labeling and the potential risks associated with undisclosed allergens in food products. Ensuring clear and comprehensive labeling is crucial in preventing adverse reactions and protecting consumer health. It is essential for food manufacturers to maintain rigorous quality control measures to prevent such incidents and prioritize consumer safety above all else.
