Todd Main, ISA’s Director of Market Development, highlighted that the challenge goes beyond providing funding and aims to foster a community of innovators dedicated to commercializing sustainable materials. The initiative seeks to support the next generation of sustainable solutions by encouraging collaboration and innovation.

Jeannette Tamayo, Executive Director of the Illinois Innovation Network (IIN), emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration in driving sustainable innovation. By bringing together research universities, entrepreneurs, and the agricultural sector, the challenge creates opportunities to transform soy into impactful solutions for current material challenges.

The SpringBoard Seed Funding Challenge will proceed in two stages: the submission of concept papers by May 30, 2025, and the submission of detailed proposals by August 15, 2025. Winning projects will receive seed funding of up to $40,000 to further develop their innovations.

ISA and the SIC are actively seeking research institutions and commercialization partners to enhance local processing capacity and explore feasibility studies for U.S.-based, soy-derived production systems. This collaborative effort aims to drive innovation and sustainability in the soy industry for the benefit of farmers and consumers alike.
