This innovative product, known as BIORESTOR®, is the brainchild of Bio Based Spray Systems based in Sidney, Ohio. By incorporating soybean oil as a key ingredient, BIORESTOR® aims to enhance the flexibility of aging asphalt, thereby increasing the durability of the pavement.
Luke Meyer, the General Manager of Bio Based Spray Systems, explains that BIORESTOR® functions by seeping into the asphalt matrix, fortifying it with polymers, and sealing off the pavement. This treatment, typically applied within the initial years of an asphalt’s life cycle, serves as a preventative measure to maintain road quality and longevity. The application rates are meticulously calibrated, ranging from .02 to .03 gallons per square yard, ensuring a light yet effective treatment.

By marketing BIORESTOR® across multiple states and locally in Ohio since 2010, Bio Based Spray Systems has paved the way for counties and agencies to integrate this soy-based rejuvenator into their pavement preservation programs, offering a simple yet impactful solution for maintaining road quality.
